The use of a FASTANK 5 has allowed users to undertake these procedures onshore, in a more controlled and accessible environment (rather than having to dive with equipment). Equipment can also be setup, tested, calibrated etc. in a laboratory situation.
In the case of sonar equipment, the materials of the tank are specifically suited to eliminating the nuisance reflections which are experienced in solid tanks.
